Just wondering what the largest size hard the notebook (with latest bios
installed) can handle before you have to install special software like disk
manager or such?
IBM recommends 5gb in there specifications as the largest, but I'm sure it
can handle bigger.

Re: ibm thinkpad 380ED hdd upgrade
When the 380x came out, HD's were small and expensive. You should be able to go
up to a 6-8GB without doing anything. If you flash the BIOS with the latest,
you should be able to get a 10gb in it. A 9-12mm HD should easily fit.
Search eBay... I wouldnt expect you to pay more than $35 for a 10gb, shipped.
