IBM laptop power supply overheating

A couple of weeks ago, an IBM Thinkpad T22 power supply overheated and
cut out. It was really hot to touch.
Since then I have been using another IBM power supply I had lying
around, which had exactly the same voltage and current rating
(although there was a compatibility problem with the barrel connector.
I couldn't see any diference, but Barry Weitzman suggested the centre
pin had a different thickness. He was right).

NOw, I've just tried the original power supply again. It works!
Although it is a litttle bit on the warm side.

Any comments ?
I suppose there is some kind of internal cut out.

Re: IBM laptop power supply overheating

The load on the supply can vary, depending on what you are doing on the
computer (this includes whether you are recharging a battery, burning a
CD or DVD, even what programs you are running).  So you may be drawing
less now than you were then.  I'd use the supply if it's working, but at
the same time I would not be surprised if you have further problems.

There was a recall on some defective power supplies I believe
and maybe you have one of them.  You'll have to go search the
IBM?/Lenovo web site for the details.
