I cannot get any brand of wireless notebook adapter to work in it since
the computer was dropped on the floor a few months ago. Is this slot
something that can be easily replaced by someone with little to no
know-how in matters like these, or is it too complicated or attached to
a board or something, and I should just be happy with the USB wireless
connection? Cost? Where do I buy it?

configuration in the bios setup. Often the default is "PCIC
Compatible", which often does NOT work with many cards.
The actual card cage is usually replaceable, but the best source is a
"doner" machine of the same model. Replacing it may be either easy or
extremely difficult depending on the exact model.
