It seems that it has gotten to the point where every time you look for a
driver, you end up at a site where you can't get the driver, rather you
get this "Driver Detective" program that you are supposed to run on the
target computer and it will examine your system and find and download
the right drivers.
What's wrong with this? A few things:
First, I repair PCs, and in almost all cases I am trying to download
drivers on one PC for use on a DIFFERENT PC.
Second, when the drive you need is the network driver ... this is pretty
Arrrgggg .... the "dumbing down" of pretty much everything.
Re: I HATE Driver Detective
I actually purchased driver dectective from one of those web site
pop-ups that cons people (yes I fell for it too!) & found it didn't do
what it claimed it would do.
It was absolutely useless with a really weird method of downloading
and installing updates, which almost alway failed.
I then complained to my credit card company until I got a refund
