I'm experiencing an unbearable hum/line noise. My system is a HP
pavilion 5000 laptop with Windows XP fully updated.
I'm hearing the noise with and without the AC adapter plugged in and I
tried different outlets for the adapter.
The noise continues if all the volume controls are set to mute.
The noise DISAPPEARS if the computer is heavily loaded, i.e. if
several tabs are being opening in Firefox at once or several programs
are opening at the same time.
Please help, it's driving me nuts!
Re: hum/line noise in headphones
Try the Koss earplugs in an MP3 player and see if they do the same.
If your new ones have internal circuitry (ie. noise cancelling) then I'd
suspect that RF signals from the computer (generated by all computers)
are hosing up the circuitry in the earplugs.
