I have had a HP Pavilion ze5300 for almost two years and have found it
to perform well - it is a fairly heavy machine to carry around. The
fan(s)are fairly noisy and the unit lacks an inbuilt microphone which is
a nuisance when using phone programs such as Skype or webcams. In a
moment of spontaniety I had a look at alternative machines on eBay and
in a few minutes I had bought a new Acer 4061 WLMi at a very reasonable
The HP was an Intel Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz processor with 512 mb RAM
The Acer has an Intel Pentium M Processor 730 (1.6 GHz, 2MB cache,
533MHz FSB)supplied with 256 MB PC4200 DDR2-SDRAM. I have ordered a 1 GB
RAM module for this which will take the RAM to 1.25GB.
How would the relative processing power of these two machines compare. I
have not yet received the new Acer. I use the HP to do some video
editing (training videos for my workplace).
Can anyone comment on either or both of these two machines?
