I have a HP N 5270.  I was online when the laptop quit - it gave me a
notice that I need to plug in my power cord (?)  but t was already
plugged in. Now tt will not turn back on.  I removed the battery and
put it back in - still nothing. The lights on the front (batterylife
indicator area) blink when I hit the power switch - the green light
next to the power switch does not.

I called Best Buy Geeks (  ) and asked if this computer should
start up using AC only with battery removed - they stated yes.  So I
tried taking the battery out and hitting the start button..no go.

I know the battery is bad - it has been for 2yrs.  I only use AC
because the battery only lasted about 10 minutes max.  So are geeks
wrong?  Do I need battery to start this computer even when plugged
into the wall outlet?

Nope, should work fine. Maybe the power supply just died.

Power supply?  Isnt that the AC adaptor on a laptop.  If so - its fine
at least it looks fine. Green light is on and steadily lit.

Re: HP N 5270 won't turn on

You need to verify output voltage with a volt/ohm meter.. Should be
putting out 19-19.5V DC.. If its ok then I'd suspect your DC connector
has bad solder joints on the motherboard.. We repair a ton of
HP's/Compaqs and if you need help just yell
