Step 1: install an AverTV cardbus tv card in the pcmcia slot
Step 2: leave the fan control mode set to a 'quiet' mode, so they dont
come on full blast until it is too late.
Step 3: dont pay attention to the temperature readings, and ignore the
occasional freeze-up, and for good measure leave it on 24/7.
Within a week or two it will finally die and not even boot to any
screen at all, the LEDs blink a few times then it shuts itself off
without turning on the screen.
It only dawned on me during the postmortem that the hard disk caddy and
the cardbus tv card were fairly warm ...
