installed XP on. I'm satisfied with its performance, but it bugs me
that I have an Unknown device in device manager! I haven't a clue what
it is, as everything seems to be working! All I have to identify it is
the Device Instance ID, which is ACPI\MAT0011&DABA3FF&0. Is that
enough information to figure out what driver I need to look for?
Re: How to identify "Unknown Device" in XP Device Manager
ACPI stands for advanced confuguration and power interface. It means the OS
is able to use the power management and plug 'n play abilities of the laptop
itself. Every device has to support ACPI, otherwise you'll get these
It might be an old BIOS not supporting these functions completely. See if
you have the most recent BIOS available, and if you don't - think twice
before flashing, because if it ain't broke don't fix it.
