I installed a Hitachi Travelstar Hard Drive, 60 GB, 5400 RPM in my Sony Vaio
PCG FX-340.
It seems to be working great, but I noticed that at all times the hard drive
light is someone lit up, being fully lit up when I am doing something that
requires hardrive activity. Also sometimes that hardrive just starts making
the normal hard-drive noise with no apparent reason.
Is all this behavior normal ? Didnt seem like the other drive did it. As I
say the hard drive light never turns off...
I'm pretty picky about the software installed in my computer and have
nothing running continuosly like viruscaners or antispyware software......
only w2k system.

Did you post previously about this?  If not, then there is another
report of the FX series doing this same thing with a new drive.  Try where there are numerous FX
series owners.  There might be something non-standard about that light
circuit on the laptop.  OTOH, if that is the only problem, it's not
really harmful, just annoying.
