gNewSense is probably the wrong distribution for you if you want to use
your Dell's network cards. Those are typically using broadcom chips for
which there are no fully free drivers and "gNewSense is a GNU/Linux
project that aims to remove all the non-free software from Ubuntu and
Debian to make a 100% Free Software distribution."
Thus you better get Ubuntu or Debian which still has support for
