(Computer is 18 months old - still in warranty period) Initial problem
was the bottom 1 inch of the LCD went blank, Tech Support said
"contacts on edge of screen had broken", so they would replace screen.
Shipped in their carton & packing. When it arrived Gateway said the
LCD was cracked and they would not replace screen, unless at my cost.
I wrote letter to Gateway, Sioux City, South Dakota. On third shipment
to Warranty Service, they replaced screen and returned it to me today,
20 January 06.
Gateway declines to make any monetary refund, in consideration of my
being out of service for over 3 months. They did offer a $50 cupon in
their store as adjustment, but I told them my irritation was worth more
than $50. Suggest you may be well advised to not buy Gateway, and
especially avoid cost of extended warranty.
Would appreciate any responses of your experiences.
