external battery question

My wife, being the wonderful woman she is, surprised me with a new Compaq
Presario V5000 notebook computer.
The AC adapter output is 18.5v, 3.5a.
Here's the question:
She also bought me an external battery (APC universal notebook battery,
model UPB60).  This battery has selectable output voltages from 15-21 volts,
but in whole units only, not the 18.5v I need.  I called APC and the little
foreign lady I spoke with said that I should set the battery to 19v and I
would be fine.  Is this correct?  Do I have an external battery that won't
fry my new computer?

Re: external battery question

I'd use 18 volts if it works ok, but either 18 or 19 is within 5% of the
nominal value, and either should be fine.
