Hi:  Is there an adapter that will let me do one of the following?

1)  Use a PCMCIA card in an ExpressCard slot?

2)  Use a PCMCIA card with a laptop connecting it to USB or Firewire

p.s.  I have a $200 PCMCIA Type II card I want to keep using with my
Inspiron 6400 (E1505) but the laptop only has the newer ExpressCard

Re: Express adapter for PCMCIA?

First, the correct terminology is "PC Card" and not "PCMCIA Card".

However, in answer to your question, I think you are out of luck.  PC
Cards and Express cards are TOTALLY different, and at this time there
are no adapters to use either type in the other slot (nor do I expect
such adapters to appear).  I do agree that it's a bad decision on Dell's
part to make laptops without PC Card slots at this time.  I much perfer
the arrangement on my Toshiba A105, which has two slots that look like
the classical pair of PC Card slots, but in fact the lower slot is a PC
Card slot and the upper slot is an Express Card slot.

What is the function of the card that you want to use?
