Just recently picked up a Compaq Evo n1000v notebook and I was wondering
what options I have to enable wireless networking.  This is the first
notebook I've used, although I have a long history with desktops.  Presently
got it hooked up thru my wired home network.  Did research at HP site,
etc...all I can find in specs is that it has a "multiport" feature.  I would
assume I could use any (Netgear, Linkys, Belkin) pcmcia slot wireless
adapter?? any info would be appreciated.

Yes, a PC-Card wireless adapter will work quite well.

Re: Evo N100v wireless options

Actually, the best WLAN NIC for range is the MultiPort, which is an 802.11b or
adapter that screws into the silver strip on top of the screen.  It is a
proprietary interface
that's based on USB 1.1, so that's why it can only support the above interfaces.
 BTW, if you
do get a MultiPort adapter, it is enabled by pressing Fn+F2.

I can only find it on eBay, and it's still more expensive than PC Cards, which
have a much
smaller antenna, thus the range difference.
