I bought it about a year ago, and last January I noticed it having
certain problems with overheating when I play games on it that tax the
processor at all.
After about 30 minutes or so, the computer gets warm (here I mean about
48-50C, up from the usual 42 or 43C), and the processor speed drops to
533mHz for about 5-10 minutes, then returns to normal. Any plugged in
USB devices (mice, keyboards) malfunction during these 5-10 minutes,
with power going on and off.
Today I had the fan and heat sink replaced, and while the overheating
has gotten better (my palm doesn't get burned when i have it near the
touchpad), the performance drop *still happens*. I talked to Dell
again, and they will be replacing my motherboard as well.
Right now, I'm just glad I got the extended warranty so that I don't
have to pay for any of this.
Does anyone have any useful comments that could help me out with this;
it is REALLY annoying!
