We just purchassed a new Dell E5420 laptop with Windows 7 64 bit.
this is replacing her Dell Lattitude D 610 laptop, she is talking files
and installing the software that she was using on her older Dell D610
over on to her new Dell, and so far she is finding that some of the
software like her music software "Cakewalk Pro" , "Photoshop" , "Adobe
Audition", and "Printshop Ensemble III" will not run, the way it looks
like that the 64 bit technology will not run this software that is a few
yrs old. what are some options to get her software to run on this
laptop, is there a way to convert it to 32 bit, as of now I may return
the computer and replace it with a 32 bit machine. stumped at the moment.
Re: Dell 5420 WIN 7 64 bit compatibility issues
Yes this is a common complaint when trying to run some x32 applications
under Windows x64 (I get around this problem by running all x32 OS). The
problem appears for some x32 applications because Windows x64 runs x32
applications under an emulator (known as WOW64). Here is the rest of the
story and some solutions to get around the problem.
