I have recently reinstalled xp on my toshiba tecra A3. Everything was
going swimmingly until I inserted my PCMCIA firewire card to capture
some video. The add hardware wizard began, then after "waiting while
the wizard searches..." I got an error telling me that a cyclic
redundancy check data error had occurred and the driver could not be
installed. I then remembered that after a couple of serious knocks, my
hard disk had some bad sectors, I then ran scan disk and fixed all the
errors (about 4, one of which contained a driver directory)
I then attempted to install the card again, but now I don't get the CRC
error, instead I get an error saying that an error has occurred because
"The data is invalid" I tried downloading a driver from the net, but
the same error keeps coming up.
If anyone can offer any suggestions, I'd be very glad.
