mechanical rather than electrical and the only way to evaluate them is
by actually trying to do it. Electrically, the drives are pretty
standardized, and even the location of the connector is generally
standard, but many laptops use custom brackets or connector
adapters/caddies to mount the drives, and the front bezels are NOT
standard at all (you may end up with an installation that would be
perfect if the drive tray would only close. Some people who don't care
about appearance fix such problems with an X-Acto knife or grinding tool).
