Have you enabled the port that outputs to the projector? There is a
combination keystroke (Fn and appropriate F key) to switch between primary
monitor, VGA, or both. If using an S-Video connection, you must enable the
S-Video port (TV mode), make sure the projector is on, and reboot the
computer. The output resolution may need to be adjusted in order to get an
image from the projector (meaning the projector may require 800x600 while
your laptop display is set to a different resolution).
All of this information can be easily found in the manual/documentation that
came with your computer.
