- compaq goes down suddenly - help

Whenever my cooler starts to work, my laptop
suddenly goes down (complete turned off).
It is a compaq presario 1700T pentium 3 800 MHz.
Is it may be caused by high temperature in the
processor? It is important to notice that it is
not freezing. Or may the cooler be shaking
anything in the computer that causes it?
Any help will be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

faulty heat sensor on the chip. The fan would not come on when it
should and it came on when it shouldnt have. hopefully you are under
warranty...otherwise oyu are like me with a laptop that crashes at
will. Add some large rubber feet that you can glue to the bottom of
the laptop....get the feet from Radio Shack. Also get a Targus fan
from Best Buy that will add circulation via a fan powered by USB.
Or be like me and get a new laptop!!!!!!
