infra-red port. There is a port with a dummy cover that could handle
an infrared. Does anyone know of where to go to buy the equipment to
install a built in infrared port?
Yes, I could buy one of those USB attachments but I want to avoid that.
Just something else to keep up with.
Re: can one add built in infrared to toshiba laptop?
It seems the Tecra line has (almost) identical hardware for some series.
Tecra does have an onboard IR module.
I don't know if you can get a plug-in device or that you need to solder
on the mainboard. And you also might need to flash your notebook with a
new (or hacked) BIOS......
I would try to find the smallest USB-IR dongle possible.
When not plugged in it doesn't draw any power. You can use it on other
PC's or notebooks.
