Hi all,

I am thinking of buying a laptop. My price range is around A$1500
(Australian Dollars). I was looking at this website: /. I am thinking about InspironTM
6400UMA (A$1349). I need some suggestions. I am concerned about the
"512MB (1x512) DDR2 SDRAM Shared with Graphics". I mainly intend to use
laptop for web design/ development. So I will have Firefox, Photoshop
and Dreamweaver opened side by side most of the time. Apart from that,
sometimes Flash and Acrobat Reader and few other softwares and
background processes. So how much will the shared memory with graphics
affect the performance in my case? I'm not much of a gamer. so won't be
playing much of 3D games.

Could you also comment on other features of this particular laptop and
let me know what are the things I have to be really aware of when
buying a laptop?

Apart from Dell, what are the other good brands that fall within my
price range, if any. Please recommend.

Thanks a lot!!

The shared memory won't effect performance that much, lack of memory
will be a bigger problem.  Buy less laptop and put a gig of ram in it.
