I want a new notebook with
Centrino (battery life, cooler, better than Celeron M)
14" widescreen 1280 x 768
"BrightView" aka UltraSharp, etc. screen
not failure-prone (i.e. Averatec)
that fits a budget under $800 w/ XP Home.
The Dell website seems impossibly complicated,
How can one tell if a model's screen is "UltraSharp"?
3rdly, I read last week that 1 Taiwan maker, Quanta,
makes <something like> 25% of all Taiwanese notebooks,
for various well-known companies (Acer, Apple, ..).
Are any of these less-well-known and affordable?
