Please help me about this question: which processor for a laptop is better
(meaning faster, cooler) for office/professional applications (VisualStudio
 * AthlonXP-M 2800+, with 256kB L2 cache or
 * Celeron-M370, 1.5GHz, with 1MB cache?
What is desktop-equivalent speed of each, which one is a better value?
Please bear in mind that performance is prior to battery life and heating.

Go with the Athlon, very good laptop performance, equivalent to a 2.8Ghz
Pentium 4.  Today's computers are fast enough that unless you are a
benchmark maven, you'll never notice the differences in cache,
especially in any work not involving heavy duty video, extreme gaming,
or breaking crypto keys.
