If the video has failed, taking it apart will be an exercise in futility
since there is nothing user serviceable. Boot to safe mode, F8 just
after the OEM logo. Tap F8 repeatedly. In safe mode the video driver
is not loaded. If the problem persists in safe mode then there has been
a screen/mainboard failure of some sort. If you get a stable video
image in safe mode, then you can uninstall the video driver, reboot, -
hopefully getting a decent image, and then reinstall the video driver.
If this fails to restore the video then it's most likely a mainboard
problem with the video/graphics subsystems.
