I am running debian gnu/linux on an acer travelmate 4500. I have a
problem with the fan. It keeps running all the while. It is extremely
irritating. The output of cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/trip_points
critical (S5): 100 C
passive: 92 C: tc1=2 tc2=3 tsp=100 devices=0xc124557c
active: 66 C: devices=0xc12515a4
active: 63 C: devices=0xc1251694
I found a script on ubuntuforums (it seemed like it would work) which
goes like this:
I put that in /etc/init.d/acpi-fans. did a chmod u+x on it and rc-
It however doesn't seem to work and the trip points are still set to
the default values. Can someone shed some light on this as my cpu's
temperature doesn't seem to drop below 66 C.
