My lcd started to flicker and laptop shuting down.

Seems the wire can go bad after years of twisting and turning or

They seem to love making these things where you can't open the actual
'converter'. A hacksaw?

All I need to do is patch some new wire into where I cut it.

QUESTION:Any special wire? It looks like some small coaxial cable but
possible aluminum shielding? Solder aluminum?

My old CTX laptop. I'm now using another unit that came with my Compaq
laptop. Same plug and 19 volts so?

I'm sure some have had the wire go defective and go buy a whole new one
just over wire?

Well any generic laptop supply with the same voltage and amperage (or
higher for amperage) rating should do nicely. Make sure the polarity is
correct of course.

Yes things like a hacksaw does work to get them apart sometimes. :D
