My client is looking for a new battery replacement for his decade old
Toshiba Satellite 2655 XDVD notebook/laptop that still runs the original
Windows 98 SE OEM.

I did a search on ToshibaDirect.com and found
and http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/adet.to?seg=HHO&poid=363650 ...
but they don't seem to match the original battery with its vertical bar
connectors on the end and I don't see "2655" model (closest one is
2650). Is this OK or is the Web site wrong?

Are there any local retail stores (Los Angeles and Orange County, CA,
USA areas) and dealers that sell new ones or compatible ones (new)? The
current one only lasts about ten minutes long which insufficient.

Thank you in advance. :)

If you can't find an exact replacement, you might want to check out:

http://www.batteryrefill.com /

What they do is refill (replace the actual batteries), so they may be
able to help.

I've had them refill the battery for an old Satellite that I
"inherited", and it seems to work fine.

The process is a little cumbersome (they send you a mailer, you mail the
original battery to them, and then they send the refilled battery to
you), but they seem to do a lot of different batteries that are just
hard to find (for older laptops).  They also seem to have some already
re-filled batteries that they sell.

I'm not connected with them, just a customer.
