I have an HP omnibook XE3 and when I plug the headphones in, the
speakers aren't as loud as before but you can still hear sound coming
from them, and that tends to be quite annoying in a plane, library or
toilette (for example).
Running WinXP Pro.

I tried looking in the control panel and tried pushing all kinds off
function buttons, but that didn't do it.

I would greaty appreciate some help in this, because it's getting
frustrating.

Thanks

paul

I had a similar problem on a different machine a few months ago. I just
opened the notebook up and ripped the speaker out. There's probably a
better solution, but this worked for me.

Ok, perhaps that is a solution, but I don't think I want to rip my
speakers out. I guess I'll just live with it that way, or figure
something out.
Thanks
