Hi
I have a toshiba satellite pro laptop.
It used to work before :)

Then it used to work but would freeze after a while :)

Now, it doesn't work at all :)

When I plug in the power cable, the green power indicator LED
comes on. But, when I press the power button nothing happens :(
There is no change. So I tried out the following:-

1) Charge battery fully, then try. - Doesn't work

2) Unplug battery, unplug power cable, keep power button pressed
for 60 seconds to reset the capacitors before retrying - Doesn't
work

3) Plug in power cable, press power button for 30 seconds,
(it should go off. It didn't), then retry - Doesn't work

4) Tighten RAM in slot, and put it in different slot - Doesn't work

5) Remove HDD and retry - Doesn't work.

6) Remove casing and press power button on motherboard - Doesn't work

What else can I do? Is the laptop dead? Or can I fix it?

Thanks
D

HI, was just wondering if there is anything else that I could possibly
do? I didn't find a reset
button anywhere :(

In the past when this happened, then pressing the laptop down a bit
would make it start
but that doesn't work now.

Pressing the power button in for say 5 to 10 seconds often works as a
reset button. Also a dead CMOS (BIOS) battery (not talking about the
main big one) will sometimes keep some models from firing up.

Hmm, Doesn't the CMOS battery charge if I keep the computer on for a
while?
If so, I could try that..
Or, Can i replace it with one from a toshiba tecra ? The one that
doesnt power on is a satellite pro.

The CMOS battery usually only charges when the LCD screen is powered up
and it takes about 24 hours to charge it all the way up. That assumes
that the rechargeable battery will take a charge. After so many years,
this battery will die and won't take a charge anymore. And I don't know
if the Tecra uses the same type and size.
