booting my PC. I do not have a Boot.ini tab in msconfig, and in My Compuer,
Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery, Settings, their is no Defult
Operating System to pick from. Also when I click Edit in System Startup the
Notepad is Blank. How do I fix this error message The PC still boots up just
the message is anoying.

You either have a messed up Boot.ini file or you have some kind of malicious
software giving you a headache.

Boot.ini is located in the root folder of the C: drive. (Boot Drive)

Usually contains this, if the system is Windows XP professional:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Make a file called boot.ini in the C: drive

in it put:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

replacing partition(1) with which ever partition.
