with IE7 ....
Guess what? - it was the line
position: relative; /* for IE */
in a style declaration at the top of the page - and it was from a
suggestion long ago for the special use of IE !!
What a pain - and the various debugging tools included with different
browsers suggested something re style but I was looking in a external
css file which was OK .... and they didn't give a line reference.
