I have a filesystem that goes like this in my site:
I want the opend.html page to use the commonstyles.css stylesheet but
seems lost as to how to do it. I've tried using the <base href="" /> tag
but doesn't work.
can anyone show me how to do it correctly. at present, I have duplicated
the commonstyles.css stylesheet but i know it's not supposed to be done

Re: going up the file system in html
".." goes up a level, so within file a/b/opend.html you would access
a/styles/commonstyles.css by "../styles/commonstyles.css".
I know Jonathan had a second "../" there, but I don't think he's
correct. You can easily try both, and see which works.
