I performed a hard reset on my ipaq 4155 and also deleted the partnership in
activesync but the program did NOT give me a pop up screen asking me if I
wanted to delete all associated files with this partnership (which it
normally does).
Eventhough I manually went to "my documents" and deleted the ipaq folder
some information must still exist somewhere on the computer since activesync
won't let me use the same name "ipaq4155" for the my documents folder since
it says that this name is already in use. How do I manually delete all
information regarding this previous partnership?? I realize that I can just
name the new folder something different but I'm just curious.

Mike,

On the desktop, click Start -> Run and type:

%Homepath%\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles

It should display folders that Activesync has created. For more information
on the dialog you are witnessing refer

Dear Raj,
I own an iPAQ hx2495, and was using ActiveSync 4.5 beta, and my partnership
was WM_Daniel_Kier1. Today I downloaded the new ActiveSync 4.5 version 1.2,
and when connected it selects a new partnership, WM_Daniel_Kier2, ignoring my
previous partnership. ActiveSync thinks that this iPAQ is another PocketPC
that I want to syncronize with.
I search the path, Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles, and after
Microsoft I don't find ActiveSync folder, and there still is a partnership
How can I fix this problem.

Thank you

Danny Kiersz

Hi Danny,

ActiveSync 4.5 isn't a upgrade. Its like a fresh installation and therefore
does not retain the earlier partnership information. You would require to
setup a new partnership upon connection with the device. However the
earlier partnership information should have been there under the Profiles
folder. Are you able to locate the current partnership folder on your
computer?

Everything was synching fine with my Pocket PC. Then I upgraded to
ActiveSync
4.5. Things still worked fine. Today I had to do a hard
reset of my device.

Now I can only connect as a Guest. I've deleted all Profiles but still
can't
resolve the problem.

I've gone so far as to go back to ActiveSync 3.8 but it still only
connects as a
Guest. I'm hoping that someone knows which folder and/or
registry entries I
need to delete to resolve this.

Sincerely,

Robert Werner
