At my own risk....

How do I open up my laptop computer for cleaning? It is a Sharp PC-GP22W
and the fan seems to have dust and hair wrapped around it. It still runs,
but makes a lot of noise.

I had tried removing about every screw there is on the bottom, but it was
still fairly anchored together. As I understand it, the new Dell's have a
point on the top above the keyboard where you can pop that panel off and
begin the dis-assembly. Is that typical of most laptops?

Thanks,
Bob

There is nothing typical about disassembling most laptops, they all have
their little quirks. Some are simple while others are a bitch. Never took
a Sharp apart, maybe some else in this group has.

It's not uncommon. Typically, there are screws under the keyboard that
hold the top and bottom together. Doing this without a service manual
and/or training is VERY risky.

Even after you get all of the screws removed, there are still "snaps"
that will probably hold it together quite firmly.

There can be screws hidden under the battery pack, an externally
removable drive, rubber feet inserts, and there are always tricky
hidden plastic snaps- finger locks to disengage. If every screw
marked with a molded arrow (not all laptops have such pointers)
has been removed the hidden snaps along the top and bottom are
the challenge.
