Vaio LCD Monitor

Someone gave me a 15" Sony Vaio monitor. Later on, I tried to plug it up,
and found the cable was not exactly standard.  :)

The connector is very small. Is there a name for this type of connector?
I've googled until I'm red, blue, and green and don't turn up much.

Is there an adapter for standard VGA to the little connector, or would I
need a Vaio graphics card?

I just want to use it for my work shop to build and repair a few computers
in my spare time. I like the compact size and built-in speakers that would
further reduce my workbench clutter.

Many thanks,,,

This is a proprietary connector. Few months back went through this with a
friend that bought this kind of monitor on eBay. After about a week of
search we gave up. No way to find either pinout or the actual mating
connector. There was also somethign else about this connector/cable if
memory serves me right. I think they were also sending USB through the
same cable or something like that, can't recall exactly.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that.  I think I'll just whack it with
a hammer and throw it in the trash.  :)

Bottom line, stay away from proprietary stuff. Just say no to non-standard
Sony and other products.

Well it might be a priprietary connector but still a
standard interface....  might as well open 'er up and see if
a analog or DV connector could be added.
