Re: ticking on speaker (OT)
Sq, Reminds me of the tale of the german POW commandant. He lined up
the Americans, commanding that they all tilt their heads left and right
and go "Tick...tock...tick...tock." One prisoner at the end of the
only tilted his head to the left, going "tick...tick...tick."
The Commandant confronted the errant American, scolding him with,
"you know, we haf ways to make you tock."
Re: ticking on speaker
Pull the sound card and try the native sound support on the motherboard.
Try both speaker/headphones out and the line-out plugged to your stereo.
If the ticking sound is appearing on all outputs of both MB and the
Creative sound card, you likely have a power supply problem. You can
either swap out the pwr.supply with any known good PS for a quick test
or look at the DC outputs of the original pwr.supply (at their board
connects)for noise spikes which coincide with the ticking. A VOM or DVM
meter will not respond fast enough to a quick spike so don't waste your
time with them. Was timing of the sound intermittent or regular?
