recently someone tripped on a cable in my apartment (my fault) and the power
supply cable was disconnected temporarily at once.
WHen I tried to reboot the machine it would not, even if I see the little
green light on the mobo telling me power is reaching the box.
What do you think was busted; the power supply, the mobo, CPU, ...?
I will have to replace it and keep going

Disconnect the PSU from everything except your motherboard. Does it
POST now? If not, then disconnect the motherboard and reconnect one of
your IDE devices. Now manually switch on your PSU by shorting the
PS_ON pin to ground. Does the PSU start?
