I have reclaimed a Compaq D51U (slimline) desktop machine. The spec is
modest (1GHz, 256Mb) but it will be fine for its intended use, a home
file server / backup device.

I have installed FreeNAS which seems to run fine on a 300Gb EIDE(?)
drive I temporarily plumbed in when the cover was off. The challenge
is to remove the existing hard drive. There is little room inside the
box and access to the two "hexagonal" fixing bolts/screws on the side
of the installed drive are blocked by the heat sink. I tried to remove
the CPU heat sink and broke one of the plastic "lugs" on the metal
"spring arms" (sorry, don't know correct term). Is there a simple way
I am missing to remove and exchange the existing hard drive on this

Some systems require removing the front bezel, then the
entire drive rack slides out the front.
