I need to put firewire card on my PC but I have only PCI-X/Express slots
(one 32bit PCI is available is next to graphics card and new card will block
Question is: can I put regular PCI card into PCI-X slot (it should fit,
right)... but will it work?
Motherboard is Supermicro X6DAE-G
Re: pci card into pci-x/express slot
1 --> PCI-X and PCI-Express are 2 different animals.
2 --> PCI-X is a 64-bit vs 32-bit slot. Most 32-bit cards will work in
the PCI-X slot unless there is a physical impediment - like a tab hanging.
3 --> PCI cards will not work in PCI-Express slots because PCI is
parallel transfer and PCI-Express is serial transfer.
