Sorry to do this but I cannot find an appropriate newsgroup...
Every now and again (se[ecially at boot up, but not exclusively) I get a
reminder pop-up the says windoze is trying to load 'Fax' and then goes to
the 'Select' drive option. I have an old HP Laser printer with a fax/modem
built in (but disabled) and have no fax/modem installed, finally I removed
it last week (coincidence?). I cannot find where the startup for this
reminder is - any advice on removing it gratefully accepted.
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity

One way of tracking down such items that has worked well for me is
Startup Control Panel by Mike Lin. It is free and it is easy. It manages
to track down even obscure self-running programs that seem to sneak
their way into a system when new hardware and software gets installed.
