The machine will mostly be used for numerical modeling and spreadsheet work.
It will drive 2 lcd monitors at 1600x1200 each. It must be fairly quiet (but
silent isn't required).
The video card seems adequate but I haven't looked at video cards in over a
year. I don't have very demanding display tasks, mostly simple 2D plots that
get updated frequently during model runs. I like the passive cooling approach
so thought I'd give the spec'd card a try.
I'm planning to try overclocking to get stable E6700 performance or better.
Anybody got a favorite quiet CPU heatsink for that goal? How about RAM
heatsinks? most of what I found in a brief search were for DDR and the
Patriot blurb mentioned heat spreaders already on the sticks...
I haven't built a new machine since 01 so am really in catch-up mode and
would appreciate advice.
