this would be my first trial at a "homebuilt server" (previously I was just
1._ a mobo:
1.1_ which BIOS let me boot without a keyboard or monitor attached
1.2_ supporting ECC memory
1.3_ with a built-in Dual Gigabit LAN
I see some of DFI LANParty mobos sporting:
LAN Chipset: Vitesse VSC8201 / 10/100/1000Mbps
Second LAN Chipset: Marvell 88E8001 / 10/100/1000Mbps
How could you tell if they are full dupplex or not?
2._ a silent power supply
3._ enough RAM (1 GB)
Also I am planning to run Linux. Do you know of reputable merchants selling
configurable Linux barebones?
Also I will be administering the box myself, which other things should I be
Any other references to this type of "prior art"?
