Hi, following on from my previous post "new mobo and parts with existing OS"
It would appear from sites I have browsed and advice given that my main
problem is the IDE controllers on new mobo not having suitable drivers on
I have checked device manager and under IDE controllers I have
Primary IDE channel
secondary IDE channel
VIA bus master IDE controller
the primary and secondary are standard with drivers supplied by Microsoft,
the VIA also has drivers supplied by Microsoft all (5.1.2600.0)
My new mobo is a Nforce 4
will these drivers still be able to boot my new mobo system?
What can I do if not?
Please help, I have £450 of new parts sitting round and I don't know how to

Remove as many of your existing drivers as you can. Reboot from your XP
install CD and do a repair install.
More often than not, this does the trick, but if not, then you will be
looking at the preferable option, a clean install, so back up any important
