Re: Hi built new computer having problem big time
You can partially install windows from the cd-rom drive but doesn't see
the cd-rom drive after installing windows?
Sounds like the drive itself is failing.
What type of cd drive do you have? IDE or S-ATA?
If it's S-ATA, then maybe the bios settings are set to enhanced mode
and the OS can't see the drive without extra drivers.
(Actually I don't have experience with S-ATA cd/dvd drives so I'm
just guessing here).
The bios virus protection protects against changes in the master boot
record of your harddrive. When you install an operating system like
Windows, the installation probably wants access to the boot sector.
If you have that option in the bios you should indeed turn it off.
If you don't see the option anywhere, you probably don't have it.
Check the manual of your mainboard, if it isn't mentioned there, you
don't have it..
As for the date changes in bios: in some you have to use enter to
start changing a value, with others you can just type the values you want,
and others allow you to change to date/time only with + or - keys.
Hope this helps.
