A friend's computer had water spilt on it and was shut down
immediatly, unplugged and dried out. When he tried to boot up  it
begins to boot ok but then gives an error message <directory can't
enumerate>. He tried to access the C: drive form the command prompt
but can only get the C: displayed but can't do anything there.

Where should he look for the most likely problem caused by water being
spilt on the tower?

I saw this message once, with a corrupt bios, try setting the bios to load
with defaults.
