a friend has asked me to put a list together to upgrade her ageing home
I have decided to base it around an
Athlon 64 3200+ processor. (socket 939)
What I need now are suggestions for the Motherboard , Graphics card +
Memory. (1 GB)
I realise it is what you are likely to do with a motherboard that dictates
what you go for, this will be an ordinary family who likes to listen to
music, play games and plug in probably at the most, 3 usb peripherals.
I will be putting in a DVD writer
Thanks for any info
Re: Athlon 64 3200+ processor
Do you mean "replace" her aging old computer, or do you really mean
"upgrade"? If the computer is a few years old, it seems to me that you may
benefit from starting from scratch. Of course, you may be able to reuse the
monitor, keyboard and mouse, and peripheral devices. Newegg.com's website
may help you to find a suitable motherboard. An important question is
whether you could be happy with "integrated graphics" or whether you will
require a separate video card (AGP or PCIe).
