I have a Microsoft Standard Wirless Optical Desktop (ie. wireless kb/mouse
combo), which frequently stops responding properly (ie. a lot of keys won't
work) and/or starts repeating characters (e.g. eeeeeee). If I press the button
on the receiver and kb to change the channel it uses, it immediately fixes the
problem for a few minutes, then the prob comes back again.
I have tried 3 different brands of batteries, all brand new, fresh from the
packet, and it doesn't make any difference..
Do you think the keyboard is at fault, or the receiver ? (the mouse is fine)

I'd first move the two close together and away from anything
metal (including desk, computer case, etc) and repeat your
tests. Do you have any other cordless devices in the
vicinity? I don't know for certain about your ??? model but
believe that at one time the 27 or 49MHz range was used for
many of them.
