(model Aspire AS5102WLMi). The Dell is more expensive and I am
wondering if it's worth it. Here are a few specific questions:
Does Acer have a reputation for quality like Dell?
The Dell has the following processor: Intel=AE Core=99 Duo Proc T2300E
(1.66GHz/667MHz FSB/1 X 2MB L2 Cache) . The Acer has the following
processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 1.6GHz with 512KB cache. Are the two
They both have 1 GB of DDR2 memory. The Dell says it's dual-channel
RAM, but the Acer doesn't say dual channel. Does this make a
The Acer has a Type II PC Card Slot. The Dell has an ExpressCard slot
54mm 1.5 V and 3.3 V. Which of these would be more useful?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Which laptop should I buy?
Nope, they are pretty low end quality wise.
And the main thing I dont like about them even if you dont care
about that and just want a cheap laptop is that there is bugger all
in the way of full maintenance manuals available which can be a
problem when something happens like the screen stops working
etc or when it isnt possible to use it because the stupid laptop has
decided that it wont let you use it due to a password problem etc
as happened with one of the Acers someone I know has.
I prefer Intel mobile processors myself, tho it needs to be a Core 2 Duo.
I'd wait for a Core 2 Duo myself.
In theory, yes. In practice you're unlikely to
be able to pick it in a proper double blind trial.
